“Sauditourism” App on smartphone wins Best M-Government Service Award at the Arab world level

​“Sauditourism” App on Smartphone has recently won the Best M-Government Service Award at the Arab level, under the tourism category. 

Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Sheikh, Vice-president of SCTA for Marking and Programs, received the award from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and constitutional monarch of Dubai, during the Government Summit held recently in Dubai from 9-11 February 2015.

This achievement, emphasis on SCTA’s leadership in transforming government services into technical means and tools to facilitate citizen’s access to government services and make it easier for companies and tourism industry partners to gain access to these services.

This award comes as an extension to previous awards attained by SCTA in the areas of e-Government, and the SCTA has already received numerous awards in the information technology area the latest was the Saudi e-Government Achievement Award consecutively for two years from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia. In addition, it has obtained the Middle East e-Government and e-Services Excellence Award – under the category: e-Tourism service, from the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, Dubai, (UEA), and the Best government authority in the Arab world in the use of social networks and digital media, from First Arab Social Media Awards.

Expressing his thanks and gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and to the Award Jury, Alsheikh said, “This award and SCTA’s previous awards in the electronic transactions are the valuable achievements.  They could not have been achieved without the persistent support and directives of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA in applying the latest technologies and the Smartphones Apps across all services of SCTA.”

“This award is an added incentive for the development of SCTA’s electronic services oriented to both the citizen and tourist, as well as providing further services in the light of rapid technical progress that the Kingdom is witnessing in various areas” added Al Sheikh. 

Noteworthy, Sauditourism App has attained the Best M-Government Service Award at the Arab level surpassing Apps of many other Arab countries. During the past few years, Apps have been hosted by SCTA on its websites of Saudi tourism portal www.sauditourism.sa, Saudi events website: www.saudievents.sa, and e-information centers website: www.seesaudi.sa.
